Pakkasmarja – Pure berries from Finland

Pakkasmarja is a farmer-owned berry company located in Suonenjoki, the strawberry capital of Finland. The company was founded by inventive strawberry farmers and has grown into a modern and trusted berry supplier.

Our business is based on the work of around 250 contract farming families and a large number of pickers. We employ fairly and responsibly throughout the berry production chain. Our production facilities are modern and designed with quality, safety, energy efficiency and environmental considerations in mind.

We make products from Finnish farmed, forest and organic berries. Our range includes both frozen berries and ready-to-eat products such as berry snacks and berry ice creams – easy and delicious ways to enjoy berries all year round.

In 2025, our SMUUTI berry snack was awarded the Finnish Food Innovation of the Year – thanks to the Finnish berry, bold product development and collaboration.

Our mission is to provide consumers with safe, healthy and domestic berry products and to inspire the versatile use of berries in everyday life and celebrations. It is important to us to safeguard the future of Finnish berry farming.

100% FINNISH FROZEN BERRIES

Small Pakkasmarja berries contain an incredible amount of goodness. They are collected from quality orchards and pure forests in Finland. Our entire chain adheres to jointly agreed principles of ethical, social, corporate and environmental responsibility.

We freeze berries in Suonenjoki extremely quickly and energy-efficiently, and pack them in colourful packaging that you can easily recognise in the store’s freezer. Frost berries spread colour, joy, and good mood all year round.

Cultivated berries

Our cultivated berries come from skilled contract farmers who are part of Pakkasmarja. Farmers follow cultivation methods in accordance with the Quality Garden Guidelines, cultivating responsibly and with respect for our environment.

Wild berries

Our wild berries come from the pure forests of Finland. The berries are sourced responsibly and with respect for our nature (ETL ry (Finnish Food and Drinks Federation) / LTTY).

Ready-made berry mixes

We prepare especially tasty 100% FINNISH berry mixes to facilitate the versatile use of berries. You can make the freshest smoothies from these berry mixes, because Finnish berries do not need to be heated.

Organic berries

Our organic berries come from berry farms in Finland that are covered by organic supervision. To stay in good shape, please also ensure a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.

SMUUTI BERRY SNACK

Our SMUUTI product family is growing as our ice creams are joined by delicious SMUUTI berry snacks. The snacks can be found in the frozen section, which preserves the freshness, fresh berry flavor, and vitamins. The berry snacks contain over 70% Finnish berries and are also ideal for those following special diets: the product is vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free.

SMUUTI BERRY ICE CREAM

Smuuti ice cream is also available in single-serving cups with a spoon included. We rescued the tastiest Finnish strawberries that were about to go to waste and made fluffy ice cream out of them. The flavour pairing is fresh Finnish rhubarb from spring. For this SMUUTI ice cream, we take advantage of leftover strawberries from the harvest season that have prime taste but are not suitable for our other products due to their size or shape, for example.
